International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements

The periodic table of chemical elements is one of the most important achievements of science, capturing the essence not only of chemistry, but also of physics and biology.

It is a unique tool for scientists to predict the appearance and properties of matter on Earth and in the rest of the Universe.

2019 marks the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the periodic system by Dmitry Mendeleyev and has been proclaimed "International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements" (IYPT2019).

The IYPT2019 initiative is supported by IUPAC, in partnership with the European Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS), the International Council for Science (ICSU) ), the International Astronomical Union (IAU), and the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPS). It has been submitted by many organizations from more than 50 countries around the world.

The celebrations will be held around the world in 2019. The DGRSDT will contribute to this event by organizing exhibitions, conferences and activities throughout the national territory.

The Opening of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements-IYPT 2019 will take place on July 04, 2019 in Oran.
